New Licensing Law for All-Purpose Vehicles (APVs)

Got an All Purpose Vehicle?   Make sure you are covered!  Ohioians who own an All Purpose Vehicle (APV), Off-Road Motorcycle, or Snowmobile  should be aware that recent changes to Ohio law now require certain APV’s to be registered with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV).  If you own one of these vehicles that needs to be registered, your insurance coverage, particularly the liability coverage provided by your homeowners insurance policy, could be affected.

In order to determine if your homeowner’s liability coverage is still providing insurance protection when operating your APV, we make the following recommendations:

Contact the BMV to determine if the APV you own is required to be registered.  The BMV’s website is http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/registration_titling_apv_usv.stm

If the answer is yes, check with your insurance agent to see if the liability coverage of your homeowner’s policy still applies to your APV.  There are several options available to obtain the coverage you need.  Give us a call and we will be happy to help you.
